As a part of its corporate mission of "Closing the Distance," LINE continues to make the LINE app into a gateway for an all-encompassing "Smart Portal" to people's lives. This will seamlessly connect all types of people, information, content, and services - both offline and online - as close as they want anywhere they are, 24/7.

In order to realize this corporate mission, LINE has made "Videolized" (focus on video) one of its core visions under its 5-year Communication First plan. The launch of LINE LIVE in Germany last September was part of this vision, and the service was further rolled out on February 12, 2018 in 12 countries in the MENA region including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

LINE LIVE, operated by LINE Corporation, is one of the top live video streaming services in Japan. With LINE LIVE, users can truly “enjoy the moment” as they host or watch livestreams from anywhere, anytime. Launched on December 10, 2015 in Japan, LINE LIVE managed to surpass 350 million views in its first six months, and has grown to over 33 million monthly active users. *1

From regular people to celebrities, LINE LIVE streamers are diverse, and they can manipulate their faces while they are broadcasting using LIVE stickers. While some streamers simply talk about their day or confess their feelings as in writing in a journal, others play a musical instrument or sing for their viewers. Regardless of the content, all streamers enjoy livestreaming in a way that is right for them. Streamers also interact with viewers in various ways. For example, viewers can show their support for their favorite livestreamers and encourage them to fulfill their dreams by sending them hearts and gift items during their livestreams. They can also send comments of encouragement, or simply ask questions.

As is the case in Japan, LINE LIVE that has been launched in the 12 MENA countries (the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Egypt, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Bahrain, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon) enables streamers to engage with their viewers in real time, and host a livestream together by requesting a guest call.

The gifting feature allows creators to exchange items they receive from viewers for real cash, encouraging them to plan better content and improve their talents. Further, to cultivate a unique culture for LINE LIVE creators (streamers) in the 12 MENA countries, LINE has initiated a creator incubating program called LINE LIVE LAB in a partnership with Kharabeesh, the first YouTube certified MCN Company in the MENA region.

The LINE LIVE LAB offers creators in-depth analysis in content creation under the leadership of well-trained and well-educated leaders, and inspires with strong motivation and courageousness. Through a five-week long curriculum including 1:1 mentoring and exclusive webinar sessions, five creators will be chosen to become LINE LIVE's first broadcasting stars with special prizes including a content workshop trip to Tokyo, Japan, and exclusive exposure on LINE LIVE and Kharabeesh's online platforms.

LINE and Kharabeesh will also hold "LINE LIVE LAB University Workshops" in schools and institutions to meet potential young creators, and help build their skills that will enable them to create superior content.
