2015.10.22 LINE Pay
Tokyo, Japan – October 22, 2015 – LINE Pay Corporation, operator of the mobile money transfer and payment service LINE Pay integrated with the messaging app LINE, announced today that it has acquired Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DDS) Level 1 certification.
LINE Pay allows customers to send and receive money with other LINE users, and offers simple alternatives for making purchases and payments at affiliated vendors and stores. Since its soft launch on December 16, 2014, LINE Pay has sought to build a new payment platform for the mobile generation by launching various promotions, collaborations with other companies, compatibility with major e-commerce websites and apps, as well as other enterprises to make the service both beneficial and safe for users.
The PCI Standard is mandated by the world's five major card brands*1, who comprise the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. The standard was created to increase controls surrounding cardholder data.
*1 American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard, VISA Inc.
PCI DSS consists of six "control objectives": build and maintain a secure network, protect cardholder data, maintain a vulnerability management program, implement strong access control measures, regularly monitor and test networks, and maintain an information security policy. These control objectives are further divided into twelve requirements, all of which must be verified as fulfilled by a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) in order to receive Level 1 certification.
LINE Pay was able to acquire Level 1 certification for the latest version of the PCI DSS (version 3.0) by clearing a stringent compliance audit conducted by the QSA. This substantiates LINE Pay's objective to build and operate a global payment service which protects all of the user data stored on its systems with the highest level of security possible.
LINE Pay will continue to innovate in order to provide even more useful and secure services to its users.
