TOKYOAugust 2, 2021 LINE Corporation ("LINE") and Yahoo Japan Corporation ("Yahoo! JAPAN") today announced the formation of a new sales partnership aimed at existing and prospective merchants for the LINE GIFT, Yahoo! JAPAN Shopping, and PayPay Mall platforms. Offered by LINE, LINE GIFT (https://gift.line.me/about Japanese only) lets users send a variety of gifts to their friends through the LINE app. Yahoo! JAPAN operates online shopping platforms Yahoo! JAPAN Shopping and PayPay Mall.

With LINE GIFT, users can easily send gifts without having to input a postal address or meet in person for all kinds of occasions, whether it be to send a small thank you gift, or to mark a seasonal event or a major life event. We have seen a surge of popularity in LINE GIFT during the COVID-19 pandemic, as users send gifts to loved ones who they cannot meet with in person. As a result, LINE GIFT recorded over 15 million users* as of May 2021.

JAPAN Shopping is one of Japan’s largest online shopping platforms, where users can purchase popular appliances, food and beverages, everyday goods and other items that make the perfect next gift. PayPay Mall also offers a quality shopping experience with its selection of hand-picked stores. Yahoo! JAPAN and PayPay Mall together offer more than 400 million items, making it the largest EC platform in Japan in terms of number of items offered.

With this new partnership, we will cooperate on sales activities aimed at existing and prospective merchants for the LINE GIFT, Yahoo! JAPAN Shopping and PayPay Mall services. Efforts will first focus on encouraging merchants already on Yahoo! JAPAN Shopping and PayPay Mall to set up stores on LINE GIFT. By strengthening cooperation between our respective e-commerce services, both LINE and Yahoo! JAPAN aim to broaden our product lineup and deliver even greater convenience for our users. We are also exploring other areas to collaborate in the future.

With LINE and Yahoo! JAPAN now part of the same group following the business integration between LINE and Z Holdings Corporation in March 2021, we intend to strengthen our collaboration across various other services while also continuing to strengthen data governance and enhance user protection and security.
