TOKYO — December 14th — LINE Corporation (LINE) announced today that the Avatar feature* has now come to LINE video calls.
*This feature is available with LINE app ver. 10.21.0 or higher.
The Avatar feature has already been available in a variety of places in the LINE app, such as chats, Timeline and the LINE profile decorative features. But starting today, the Avatar feature is also available for LINE video calls, including 1:1 and group video calls and LINE Meetings, by just clicking “Avatar” in the effect menu. Your avatar replaces your face, and lip-syncs and mimics your facial expressions during the call, entertaining everyone. It’s also a good way to overcome video conference fatigue.

■Other LINE call features to explore during the winter holidays
With the 10.21.0 update, there are several other extended features for LINE calls getting released, along with the Avatar feature. Check out the improved screen sharing, a ”watch together” feature, and background effects!
Added “Watch Together” feature for 1:1 calls
“Watch together” is a feature released this year enabling users to share their screen and YouTube videos while chatting. Until now, the feature was available only in group calls but now it’s available for 1:1 calls too. Users can enjoy chatting with family or friends while viewing a YouTube video or looking at a shopping site together. Especially in these difficult times, it’s hard to get together with your loved ones, but LINE calls enhance the feeling of being together thanks to features like these.

Added Background blur option
The Background blur option has been newly added to background effects for LINE video calls, and users can activate it with just one click! This feature is useful when you’re joining a call from outside the office or if you need to hide an unexpected background disturbance. In addition, users can register up to 10 background effects now, making it easier for users to switch to different effects while on a call.
