LINE Ads Platform Now Offering 9:16 Vertical Format Ads

■ Full-screen vertical video ads now possible, allowing for even more dynamic product campaigns

 

TOKYO – November 8, 2017 – The LINE Ads Platform, the performance-based ad platform operated by LINE Corporation for its services, is now delivering vertically formatted ads.
The LINE Ads Platform went into full-scale operation in June 2016 when it started distributing ads to the LINE Timeline and LINE NEWS. Since its launch, the platform has been used by approximately 3,000 businesses and brands (as of the end of September 2017) and in October 2017 LINE Manga was added as an ad space. And now, LINE Ads Platform has started delivering vertically formatted ads in order to enhance the marketing activities of businesses advertising their brands. 

Vertical video ads allow for even more dynamic product campaigns
This "vertical format" is a vertically formatted video ad that enables full-screen (9:16) playback when clicked by a user.The video will be shown on Timeline in a 2:3 format and can be expanded to full-screen playback when the user clicks on it. This will be offered in addition to the current horizontal (16:9) and square (1:1) formats. This will allow advertisers to post ever more diverse and dynamic video creatives and improve their user-targeted product campaigns.

 

 

Square-formatted (1:1) video ads available in all advertising options; now available in Taiwan
In addition to this news, square-formatted video ads – which were only available through "Reach & Frequency" until now – can now be used in all advertising options. Square-formatted (1:1) static image or video ads are now also available for distribution in Taiwan.

LINE is devoted to developing new and innovative methods to provide additional value for both users and businesses alike, as well as facilitate new ways for the two groups to communicate with each other more effectively.

*Note: Vertical-format ads are only available in Japan at this time. Vertical ads can only be used with "Reach & Frequency" or "First View". Only videos can be distributed for now; static images are not supported. Ads can only be delivered to Timeline at this time. What is the LINE Ads Platform?
The LINE Ads Platform is a performance-based ad platform for services related to the LINE chat app operated by LINE Corporation. The service went into full-scale operation in June 2016 when it started distributing ads to the LINE Timeline and LINE NEWS. Since its launch, it has been used by approximately 3,000 businesses and brands (as of the end of September 2017) and LINE Manga was added as an ad space in October 2017. Advertisers use a special admin panel to set the details (including budget, time period, user attributes, and creatives) and make bids, and the LINE Ads Platform system chooses an ad and shows it to users. By switching to a performance-based ad system, many more businesses are now able to post ads, which they were previously unable to due to limitations on the numbers of slots, or for budgetary reasons. Further, since advertisers can monitor their ad displays, their effects, and other details as they operate their ads, they can conduct promotions with limited budgets and distribute ads to fit sales prospects, goal achievement rates, and more.
