New talk message protection features added to LINE
2015.10.13
To enhance privacy protection, LINE has started to provide an end-to-end encryption “Letter Sealing” feature and a built-in data erasure “True Delete” feature from versions 5.3 and later.

Letter Sealing
LINE has provided protection from wiretapping for chat messages between users by carrying out encryption on communication routes. “Letter Sealing” is an improved version of the encryption method.
Chat messages protected by “Letter Sealing” are encrypted and decrypted between the sender and recipient (end-to-end), and the chance of a third party viewing the messages is logically eliminated.
Currently this feature is available as an option for users. For further information, please refer to the URL below.

True Delete
Smartphone specifications allow app data on the device to be maintained as log data even if the data is deleted within the app. It is technically possible to recover the data using a tool.
At LINE, we has developed and implemented a “True Delete” feature to ensure that the chat data is truly deleted from the device when the users delete them on the app.
No special configuration is required for this feature. It will be automatically applied when the user is using LINE version 5.3 or later. For further information, please refer to the URL below.

LINE continues to strive for enhanced security and privacy protection in order to allow users to use services securely and with peace of mind.
