Notice regarding display of birthday information

We have discovered an issue in which, under certain circumstances, a LINE user's birthday information would be displayed to their LINE friends on the LINE app even when it was set as private.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our users and partners and we would like to explain what happened in more detail below.

1. Overview

An issue began on August 5, 2020, in which a user's birthday information could be seen by their friends even if the user had disabled the "Show my birthday" option. This occurred when a user changed their "Show my birthday" settings multiple times in a short time span, causing the incorrect settings to become synced to their friends' LINE app.

"Show my birthday" — Affected settings were the user's birthday, the "Show my birthday" settings, and the "Show my birth year" settings.
"Multiple times in a short time span" — For most of the affected users, this involved changing the birthday settings two or more times in a period ranging from a few seconds to several minutes (although for a few users, this issue could have involved a longer period of time).

2. Scale of occurrence

The issue occurred from August 5, 2020 to the present.

The affected areas and the duration of the issue are as follows.

Areas of the app where a user’s LINE friends may have seen private birthday information:

The "Birthday friends" list on the Home tab
Birthday decorations on your profile icon, as seen on the "Friends" list on the Home tab, the Chats tab, or in the search feature

- Birthday animations or special birthday displays on the Home tab that are only visible on the actual day to the user only and is not affected by the display settings of the birthday. (Updates planned around mid-October for this feature.)

3. Occurrence and response (Japan Time)

- August 24, 2022: Received an inquiry regarding this issue from a user and started an investigation.

- August 29, 2022: Investigation revealed the nature of the issue

- September 5, 2022: Fixed the problem for the "Show my birthday" settings on the server side

- September 7, 2022:

Released version 12.14.1 of the LINE app for iOS, which resolved the issue on iOS
Began sharing instructions for syncing current "Show my birthday" settings on existing versions of the LINE app on iOS and Android

- September 29, 2022: Announcement was made about this issue

4. Notice to LINE users

We're currently working on fixing this issue, but if you're concerned about your birthday privacy settings, you can make sure that they're private by resetting your birthday through the following steps:

Open your settings from the Home tab, then go to Profile > Birthday.
Open the birthday select screen as if to change your birthday, then confirm the date without making changes. On iOS, the confirm button will be "Done" and on Android, it'll be "OK."

We recommend that all LINE users update their LINE app to the most recent version, as it includes a fix for this issue. However, if you've never enabled the "Show my birthday" option in the past or if you currently have "Show my birthday" enabled, you will not be affected by this issue.

We'll continue our efforts to address this issue and will update this page as the situation progresses.

經查證後發現，LINE應用程式內的生日資訊即使設定為隱藏，仍可能在某些情況下顯示於好友的LINE應用程式內（以下簡稱為本問題）。

造成各位用戶及相關人員的諸多不便，我們在此致上最深的歉意。關於本問題的詳細說明如下。

1. 發生的問題

自日本時間西元(下同)2020年8月5日起，當用戶於「短時間內」多次變更「生日資訊公開範圍」的設定時，將導致系統未將用戶最新設定的公開範圍同步至好友的LINE應用程式內，並發生設定為隱藏的生日資訊顯示於好友的LINE應用程式內之狀況。

「顯示我的生日」 — 受影響的設定包括用戶生日，「顯示我的生日」以及「顯示我的出生年份」。
「短時間內多次變更」 — 在大多數的用戶情況中，「短時間內」是指數秒至數分鐘內執行兩次以上的變更操作，但在一些用戶的情況中時間範圍可能較長。

2. 本問題造成的影響範圍

本問題最早發生於 2020年8月5日。

3. 本問題的處理過程及時序（以下為日本時間）

- 2022年8月24日：收到用戶針對本問題的相關諮詢，開始進行調查

- 2022年8月29日：於系統內發現並確認本問題

- 2022年9月5日：修復伺服器內生日資訊公開設定的顯示程式

- 2022年9月7日 :

推出iOS版LINE應用程式12.14.1，針對iOS版LINE應用程式的問題進行修復
針對iOS、Android既有的LINE應用程式，發布同步更新至最新公開範圍設定的指令

- 2022年9月29日：發布本公告

4. 對用戶的說明

我們正針對本問題依序進行修復作業。然而，若目前已將生日資訊設定為隱藏且擔心受本問題影響之用戶：

請透過主頁內的「設定 -> 個人檔案 -> 生日」開啟選擇生日的畫面。
在不變更日期的狀態下點選「完成（iOS用戶）」或「確定（Android用戶）」，即可解決問題。

同時，使用最新版LINE應用程式可有效解決本問題，建議用戶將LINE應用程式升級為最新版本。若過去未曾公開過生日資訊，或生日資訊目前仍設定為公開，則不受到本問題影響，且不須執行後續對應操作。

เราได้พบเหตุขัดข้องโดยข้อมูลวันเกิดของผู้ใช้ LINE บางส่วนได้แสดงให้เพื่อนบน LINE เห็นแม้จะมีการตั้งค่าเป็นส่วนตัวในบางสถานการณ์

เราขอแจ้งให้ทราบถึงรายละเอียดของปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้น และขออภัยในความไม่สะดวกต่อผู้ใช้และผู้เกี่ยวข้อง

1. ปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้น

เหตุขัดข้องเกิดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 5 สิงหาคม 2563 ซึ่งวันเกิดของผู้ใช้แสดงขึ้นต่อเพื่อนบน LINE แม้ผู้ใช้จะตั้งค่าไม่แสดงวันเกิด

โดยเกิดขึ้นจากการที่ผู้ใช้เปลี่ยนการตั้งค่าการแสดงวันเกิดหลายครั้งในระยะเวลาสั้นๆ ส่งผลให้ระบบซิงค์การตั้งค่าดังกล่าวต่อแอป LINE ของเพื่อน อย่างไม่ถูกต้อง

“แสดงวันเกิด” ซึ่งเป็นการตั้งค่าที่ได้รับผลกระทบนั้นเป็นส่วนของวันเกิดของผู้ใช้ การตั้งค่า “แสดงวันเกิด” และ การตั้งค่า “แสดงปีที่เกิด”
“หลายครั้งในเวลาอันสั้น” - สำหรับผู้ใช้ที่ได้รับผลกระทบนั้นมาจากการเปลี่ยนการตั้งค่าวันเกิด 2-3 ครั้งในระยะเวลาไม่กี่วินาที ไปจนถึงหลายนาที หรืออาจจะนานกว่านั้นสำหรับผู้ใช้งานบางส่วน

- แอนิเมชันวันเกิดที่แสดงเมื่อเปิดแท็บหน้าหลักในวันเกิดไปยังผู้ใช้เท่านั้น ไม่ว่าจะตั้งค่าการแสดงวันเกิดไว้อย่างไรก็ตาม(มีกำหนดจะเปลี่ยนแปลงฟีเจอร์นี้ในช่วงกลางเดือนตุลาคม)

เปิดการตั้งค่าบนหน้าหลัก เลือกโปรไฟล์ และ วันเกิด
เปิดหน้าตั้งค่าวันเกิด เหมือนกับคุณต้องการจะเปลี่ยนวันเกิด จากนั้นยืนยันวันเกิดของคุณโดยไม่ต้องเปลี่ยนแปลงอะไร บน iOS ยืนยันได้ด้วยการกด Done ขณะที่ Android จะเป็น OK

เราขอแนะนำให้ผู้ใช้ LINE อัปเดตแอปฯเป็นเวอร์ชันล่าสุด เพื่อรองรับการแก้ไขเหตุขัดข้องดังกล่าว อย่างไรก็ตาม หากคุณไม่เคยเปิดตั้งค่าแสดงวันเกิดในอดีต หรือคุณเปิดแสดงวันเกิดในปัจจุบันไว้ แสดงว่าคุณไม่ได้รับผลกระทบจากเหตุขัดข้องในครั้งนี้

Kami telah menemukan suatu permasalahan, di mana pada suatu kondisi tertentu, informasi tanggal lahir seorang pengguna LINE akan ditampilkan kepada teman pengguna LINE yang lain meskipun informasi dimaksud diatur sebagai privat.

Kami memohon maaf atas ketidaknyamanan yang mungkin ditimbulkan kepada para pengguna dan mitra kami, serta kami bermaksud untuk memberikan penjelasan yang lebih terperinci mengenai permasalahan ini di bawah ini.

1. Gambaran Umum

Suatu permasalahan bermula pada tanggal 5 Agustus 2020, di mana informasi tanggal lahir dari seorang pengguna dapat terlihat oleh teman dari pengguna tersebut pada aplikasi LINE, meskipun opsi “Tampilkan tanggal lahir saya” telah dinonaktifkan. Permasalahan ini terjadi pada saat seorang pengguna berulang kali mengubah opsi “Tampilkan tanggal lahir saya” dalam rentang waktu singkat yang menyebabkan pengaturan yang tidak tepat tersinkronisasi ke aplikasi LINE teman mereka.

“Tampilkan tanggal lahir saya” – Pengaturan yang terdampak oleh permasalahan ini adalah informasi tanggal lahir pengguna, pengaturan “Tampilkan tanggal lahir saya”, serta pengaturan untuk “Tampilkan tahun kelahiran saya”.
“Berulang kali dalam suatu periode yang singkat” – Untuk sebagian besar pengguna yang terdampak, hal ini terkait dengan perubahan pengaturan tanggal ulang tahun sebanyak dua kali atau lebih dalam rentang waktu dari hitungan beberapa detik sampai dengan beberapa menit (walaupun bagi sebagian pengguna yang lain, permasalahan ini dapat terjadi akibat pengubahan pengaturan dimaksud dengan rentang waktu yang lebih lama)

2. Skala Kejadian

Permasalahan ini terjadi mulai dari tanggal 5 Agustus 2020 sampai dengan saat ini.

Berikut adalah area yang terdampak dan durasi kejadiannya.

Area di aplikasi dimana teman dari seorang pengguna LINE dapat melihat informasi tanggal lahir yang telah diatur sebagai privat:

Daftar "Pengingat Ulang Tahun" di bagian tab Beranda
Dekorasi ulang tahun di ikon profil Anda, sebagaimana dapat terlihat pada daftar “Teman” di bagian tab Beranda, tab Obrolan, atau pada fitur pencarian

- Animasi ulang tahun atau tampilan khusus ulang tahun yang ditampilkan pada tab Beranda yang hanya dapat terlihat oleh pengguna tersebut pada hari ulang tahun dimaksud dan tidak terdampak oleh pengaturan tampilan ulang tahun. (Pembaruan fitur ini direncanakan pada sekitar pertengahan bulan Oktober)

3. Kejadian dan Tindakan Penanggulangan (Waktu Jepang)

- 24 Agustus 2022: Menerima pertanyaan terkait permasalahan ini dari seorang pengguna dan memulai investigasi

- 29 Agustus 2022: Investigasi berhasil mengungkapkan sumber permasalahan

- 5 September 2022: Memperbaiki permasalahan pada pengaturan “Tampilkan tanggal lahir saya” dari sisi server

- 7 September 2022 :

Merilis versi 12.14.1 dari aplikasi LINE untuk iOS, guna menyelesaikan permasalahan pada iOS
Memulai menyebarkan instruksi untuk menyinkronkan pengaturan “Tampilkan ulang tahun saya” saat ini pada versi eksisting dari aplikasi LINE di pada iOS dan Android

4. Pemberitahuan kepada para pengguna LINE
