[Taiwan] LINE Taiwan Showcases Plans for 2018 at New Year Kickoff Event

● LINE Taiwan hands out 18 awards to partners and clients, celebrating the best of 2017

Each year right after Chinese New Year, LINE Taiwan holds a New Year kickoff event, celebrating the best of the previous year and outlining LINE’s plans for the year ahead. This year's showcase – held on March 9 – was the most successful yet, featuring a buzzing press event full of insightful presentations, lively Q&As, and fun photo-ops, followed by the LINE Taiwan Spring Party in the evening, which included our annual awards and a dinner event for partners, clients and others.

2018 Press Conference

The afternoon was dedicated to addressing the media, with a large turnout of media representatives attending from TV, the press and online publications. After an opening video, Roger Chen, general manager of LINE Taiwan, began the day with an overview of how LINE Taiwan has been over the past year and the exciting new developments the company has planned for 2018.

Among the many milestones of 2017:

● LINE Creators Market in Taiwan had 140,000 creators generate sales of NTD460 million. 

● 1.3 million LINE Pay cards were issued.

● 7 million VoIP callers each day

● 35 million videos shared each day

● Making local investments in Appier, ShineWant and iPass. 

For 2018, LINE Taiwan highlighted several big plans including election-related services, launching the services LINE MOBILE and LINE Finance, and releasing several games. There is also the new LINE LIVE feature coming for OAs, starting with LINE TODAY, new partners for LINE Shopping, and additional chatbots and Beacon coming for our mobile ads solutions that will better optimize the customer experience.


"This year, we are going to expand investment in Taiwan comprehensively,” said Roger Chen. “We are going to enhance our product portfolio by offering more diversified services, while also creating a mutually beneficial ecosystem by partnering with more industry players."

Other speakers talked about the full range of LINE services and products, including LINE TODAY and other contents, LINE Shopping, LINE's mobile ad solutions, and LINE Pay.

Finally, to wrap up the press conference, the LINE Taiwan team held a photo session, followed by interviews for TV and print media.

LINE Taiwan’s Spring Party and Awards

The evening saw this year’s edition of the popular LINE Taiwan Spring Party, featuring a wide range of clients, partners and other VIPs on hand for the announcement of the LINE 2018 goal and vision, and to celebrate the best of 2017 with this year’s LINE Awards.

For the 2018 LINE Taiwan Awards, 18 prizes were given out in e-commerce, corporate business, LINE Pay, LINE TV and LINE Game, demonstrating the wide range of exciting and creative partnerships and contents that appeared on the LINE platform over the past year. 

“At the awards tonight, we are pleased to honor our dedicated partners and clients who leverage LINE to make user experience beyond expectations,” said Susan Wang, lead of LINE Taiwan Corporate Business. “The LINE Taiwan Awards go to those who bring us inspiration, and we are looking forward to tapping into new possibilities with them.” 

As LINE looks to expand its ecosystem of products and services in 2018, users can expect to discover ever more ways that LINE makes life easier and more productive—“Closing the Distance” to bring together the information, service and people most important.
