TOKYO – May 8, 2019 – LINE Corporation ("LINE") announces the launch of its new development program for creators, LINE Creators Support Program, as LINE Creators Market (https://creator.line.me) celebrates its fifth anniversary today
LINE Creators Market is a platform for LINE users (LINE creators) around the world to create and sell their own stickers and themes. After passing LINE's review process, creators' stickers become available on the official online LINE STORE (https://store.line.me/home/en) and the Sticker Shop inside the LINE app.
Since its launch in May 2014, LINE Creators Market has continued to grow as a place for creators' artistic endeavors. In the five years since, the number of registered creators has reached two million across 230 countries (as of May 8, 2019), and over 4.9 million sticker sets are now available for purchase. Over the same five-year period, the platform also recorded a total of JPY 69 billion in sticker sales.
Additionally, LINE has been proactively taking on initiatives to inspire creators, with many characters originating from creator stickers going on to have their own merchandise, star in their own anime shows, or appear in collaborations with companies. Constantly taking on these challenges and making improvements has paved the way to LINE Creators Market's fifth anniversary.
To mark the occasion, LINE is launching the LINE Creators Support Program to uncover talented creators on the platform and produce characters which have the potential to go worldwide.
About the LINE Creators Support Program
For the first group of participants, ten creators will be chosen from those active on LINE Creators Market.
The selected ten will become "LINE Creator Sticker professionals" and receive support from senior creators and LINE staff as they work towards raising their own profile and increasing their sales. In addition to creative support, the participants will also receive monthly financial aid for their sticker-related activities, as well as invites to networking events attended by other popular creators, and overseas sticker events.
How to participate:
All creators who release a sticker set before 11:59 pm (GMT+9), July 31, 2019 are eligible to take part.
Creators of stickers already available on the online or app store are also eligible. Participation is open only to residents of Japan.
Creators or characters who have previously won a Monthly MVP Award between 2015 and 2017, or won or received a nomination for the LINE Creators Stamp Award (now known as the LINE Creators MVP Award); characters which have been featured in official stickers; and characters based on celebrities and artists, or belonging to a TV program, organization, or company.
Announcement of results:
The ten selected creators will be contacted via email (at their registered address on LINE Creators Market) from October 2019 onward.
