LINE is opening up, and promoting the use of, its APIs and other systems to allow external engineers and service providers to develop and provide a variety of services over the LINE platform, such as through the use of its "Messaging API" – which allows for the open development of LINE chat bots – and "LINE Login" – which enables websites and apps to easily register or log in users by using their LINE account information.
The LINE API Expert – an initiative from the company for developers to become better versed in its APIs and to certify, provide perks to, and support engineers with strong technical skills and who are influential within their communities – is a part of its initiatives to promote use. Specifically, applications from external engineers are evaluated and certified based on their active participation in activities such as speaking about related information at events, providing information through social media or blogs, giving feedback on APIs/SDKs, etc. In addition to supporting such activities, LINE provides to those certified access/use rights to closed-access and beta programs, free access to for-pay services, and more.
