TOKYO – August 28, 2017 – LINE Corporation has entered into a Sales and Operation Partnership Agreement with UNITED, Inc. for its new LIVE Video Ads in-stream ad distribution service – a service that inserts video ads into online videos. The in-stream ads are slated to start in late September on LINE’s livestreaming service, LINE LIVE.


First announced at LINE’s business strategy event LINE Conference on June 15, LIVE Video Ads is an in-stream ad distribution service for LINE LIVE meant to boost the effectiveness of marketing activities and brand advertising. 


LINE LIVE has been praised for its easy-to-operate livestreaming and interactivity. That convenience has led to the strong support of LINE LIVE by younger users, with 47 percent of users being under 25 years old. In addition, through LINE LIVE’s efforts to expand into new areas – such as original programming and musical performances – the service has grown to reach 24 million monthly active users (as of June 2017). 


UNITED entered the programmatic advertising market in 2011, developing and operating both Demand-Side Platforms (DSP) and Supply-Side Platforms (SSP) for mobile. In March 2017, after taking into consideration the growth potential of the mobile video advertising market, UNITED released VidSpot, a mobile video advertising platform that leverages the company’s strengths in ad distribution technologies and ad distribution optimization logic.


LINE entered into a sales and operation partnership agreement with UNITED to adopt its VidSpot service for use in LIVE Video Ads. By making use of this business alliance and UNITED's expertise, LINE aims to optimize its LINE LIVE ads and maximize their advertising effect.
