Tokyo, Japan – March 3, 2015 – LINE Corporation, owner and operator of the free call and messaging app LINE, today announced that it has reached a basic agreement for a strategic partnership with CyberSource Corporation in order to facilitate the global growth of its mobile payment service LINE Pay ( http://line.me/en/pay ).
LINE Pay offers users a mobile payment service to affiliated services and stores via LINE. Since the service’s soft launch on December 16, 2014, LINE has improved the usability and security of LINE Pay and facilitated global growth through various efforts, including the acquisition of WebPay Holdings on February 10 to enhance the technology used in the service’s payment systems.
In an effort to accelerate LINE Pay’s global business development, LINE reached a basic agreement for a strategic partnership between global e-commerce payment management service provider CyberSource and the LINE Pay business.
LINE Pay has implemented CyberSource’s payment management system since its launch. The system allows LINE Pay to process payments with various credit cards issued around the world. Moreover, by taking advantage of the “CyberSource Decision Maker”, the only fraud prevention platform equipped with the world’s largest fraud detection radar, LINE Pay is able to detect fraudulent activity both quickly and accurately, increasing the security of LINE Pay and helping to optimize overall payment management tasks at the same time.
LINE will continue to strengthen its partnership with CyberSource by utilizing their various payment management solutions in order to increase the usability and security of LINE Pay and develop the LINE Pay business globally.
