Ranked 1 in the App Store Free App Rankings in 10 Regions
Tokyo, Japan – March 4, 2014 – LINE Corporation, owner and operator of the free call and messaging app LINE, today announced that the endless runner game Cookie Run surpassed 10 million downloads as of February 27, just 30 days after release.
Cookie Run is an endless runner game where the player helps Cookies escape being baked in an evil witch’s oven. Players jump and slide to avoid obstacles and run as far as possible while collecting Coins and Jellies in pursuit of the highest possible score.
After its January 29 release, Cookie Run’s charming characters and easy-to-pick-up gameplay have attracted many players, earning it the number one spot in the App Store free app rankings in 10 regions: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macao, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
The game held the top spot in the App Store free app rankings in Taiwan and Thailand for 13 days between February 19 and March 3, as well as ranking number one in the Google Play free app rankings. The game is growing globally, with approximately 80% of the 10 million downloads occurring outside Japan,
To celebrate reaching 10 million downloads, an event will run for seven days from March 5 to 11. Players will receive a special item for logging in and playing every day. See the in-game announcement for more details.
